Roma forward Adem Ljajic was very close to signing for Manchester United prior to his move to Italy, he has stated.
The 23-year-old says that he was lucky enough to meet Sir Alex Ferguson despite his last minute decision to sign for Fiorentina.
“I was about to sign with Manchester United with Tosic, then it all changed for me and I went to Fiorentina,” he told Roma TV.
“I was very happy though to have met Sir Alex Ferguson.”
The Serbian international says his first goal in the Serie A was one that he will always remember fondly and that the current Roma squad can achieve great things.
“[My first goal] was against Lazio and I will always remember it with pleasure,” he continued.
“[Roma] is a great team and a great group, we can do amazing things and I am happy to be a part of it.
“It’s an honour for me, there are phenomena that make you become stronger.
“Being with them is something very important to me.
“We all do the best for the team to win,” he said.
