Dries Mertens has taken to social media to assure Napoli fans of his health after the forward was knocked unconscious during Belgium’s goalless draw with Wales.
The 27 year old was hospitalised overnight and required a CT scan following a horrific clash with George Williams which left him motionless upon the King Baudouin Stadium pitch.
“I’m fine, thank you for your support,” Mertens later posted upon Twitter accompanied by a photo on him giving the thumb’s up from his hospital bed.
Mertens joined Napoli last year from PSV Eindhoven but may have to miss Cagliari’s visit to the Stadio San Paolo on Sunday.
