Sampdoria coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has expressed his satisfaction at his team’s performance after their 2-2 draw with AC Milan but feels his team missed chances to win the match.

Jeremey Menez’s penalty secured a point for the away side but the Serbian believes his side had ample opportunity to claim all three points.

“I think it was a good game with both teams playing to win. They were compact and organized,” he told Sky Sport Italia after the match.

“At 2-1 we had some chances to close out the game but we did not succeed. We then suffered (at 2-2) and then we recovered after the sending off of [Daniele] Bonera. I think it was a balanced game.”

Stefano Okaka drew the home side level just before half time and Mihajlovic revealed his tactical tweaks during the interval.

“[Nigel] De Jong was too open, we decided that the best defence was attack, putting [Roberto] Soriano on De Jong. We pressed high and were able to score. The form is not the most important thing, the mentality is more important.

“Before the season started I said our goal was to stay in the left side of the table, if we continue like this we can be satisfied.”
