Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella was happy at the way in which his side performed during their 2-1 victory away to Hellas Verona.

The Viola coach praised his players for their work-rate and also said he hopes to see a fully fit strike duo of Giuseppe Rossi and Mario Gomez in the not too distant future.

“The objective is always to take the three points,” said Montella to Mediaset Premium after the game.

“Today the team played with a sense of comfort, even if we could have exploited that more  in attack.

“The boys also knew how to suffer, [Luca] Toni put us in a lot of difficulty at times.

“I am optimistic about what the team have been doing.”

Montella also went on to speak about the status of his forwards after Rossi watched the game at the Bentegodi.

“We are happy to have seen [Giuseppe] Rossi today.

“We hope to see him again soon on the pitch alongside [Mario] Gomez.”

“[Mario] has been training for at least 20 days straight, but he could still improve.

“If the team create as much as they did today in the future then Mario [Gomez] will be able to find the net again.”

Montella also praised Verona striker and ex-Viola man Luca Toni for his work in the home side’s goal.

“Toni did brilliantly, but we were a little naive to have conceded that equaliser. Nico Lopez is naturally faster than Jose Basanta.”
