Vincenzo Montella, FiorentinaDespite succumbing to a 1-0 loss to Napoli, Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella was still proud of his team.

Gonzalo Higuain’s second half strike was enough to condemn the Viola to their second straight league defeat after a loss to Sampdoria last weekend, but Montella nonetheless still found some positives out of the result.

“Napoli were superior to us in the first half, and took control of the pitch. However, I don’t know why we were so timid in our approach,” he noted to Sky Sport Italia after the game.

“Still, we had our chances, especially during the second half. A win today would have definitely given us a confidence boost but I still feel my team can walk with their heads held high after facing a great team like Napoli. But, in general, we did not deserve to lose today.”

Following the international hiatus, Fiorentina will resume Serie A action as they take on Hellas Verona on the road, followed by a Europe League meeting with Ligue 1 outfit Guingamp four days later.
