Benitez - NapoliNapoli coach Rafa Benitez could be offered a release clause allowing him to take over the Spain national team should he renew his contract with the Partenopei.

Benitez’s current deal is set to expire in the summer with speculation suggesting that the former Liverpool and Chelsea boss had initially planned to return to the Premier League.

According to Il Mattino, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis could now offer the 54-year-old tactician a two-year extension that includes a get-out clause should La Roja job be available after Euro 2016.

The Neapolitan newspaper believes this agreement would suit Benitez, allowing him to build a Napoli side in his own image while also allowing the tactician to then leave for Spain as current coach Vicente del Bosque has already announced his intention to step down.

An international role would also allow Benitez to spend more time with his family who live in England.

Benitez is reported to have already rejected two proposals from De Laurentiis with further contract discussions set to take place after the 2014 Supercoppa Italiana against Juventus in Qatar on 22 December.
