Emanuele Giaccherini SunderlandFurio Valcareggi, agent of Sunderland winger Emanuele Giaccherini, has revealed that there has been no contact with Napoli regarding his client’s transfer to the Serie A side in the near future.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a possible January move to the Partenopei as a replacement for the injured Lorenzo Insigne in recent days, but his agent has confirmed that the former Juventus man is happy in England and plans on honouring his current contract with the Black Cats, which expires in June 2017.

Valcareggi spoke to RAI Sport about his client’s future and admitted that the Italian is doing fine at Sunderland, while ruling out a transfer to Napoli any time soon.

“Giaccherini to take the place of Insigne at Napoli? I have not spoken to anyone from Napoli,” said the agent. “I haven’t spoken to [sporting director Riccardo] Bigon in recent weeks.

“Giaccherini looks great at Sunderland and is very happy there. The guy wants to stay in the Premier League, he still has two more years left on his contract.

“Sunderland have no need to sell him.”
