Sampdoria midfielder Angelo Palombo believes his side were worthy winners over Fiorentina, though insists they are not getting carried away.

The Blucerchiati beat Fiorentina 3-1 at the Stadio Ferraris in Genoa, with Palombo scoring the first which has lifted Samp to third in the Serie A table, just three points off second-placed Roma.

“We did very well, I think it was a well-deserved victory,” Palombo told Mediaset.

“But we are not getting carried away, we do not over celebrate when we win and we do not get too down when we lose.

“We are not thinking about Europe yet.

“We have to play each game like it is a final and see where we end up at the end of the season.

“Coach Mihajlovic has made a major contribution to this team, particularly in the intensity that we play with.

“Massimo Ferrero is a great president. He makes everyone happy around the club.

“I wish that Genoa weren’t so high up in the table like us. But seriously we are only thinking about ourselves.”
