Parma upset the odds and defeated Inter 2-0 at the Stadio Tardini on Saturday evening in Serie A.

An brace from Paolo De Ceglie was enough to give them the victory, their first in six games and ease the pressure on coach Roberto Donadoni.

It was Inter that had the early possession but the home side that took a shock lead with the first real chance of the game in the fifth minute.

The ball was crossed in by Rispoli and after Vidic failed to deal with it, it fell kindly for De Ceglie to bundle home and past Handanovic.

There were very few chances of note in a tight first half, with the match becoming hot tempted and tackles flying in left, right in and centre.

Inter were having their fair share of possession but managing to do very little to break down a well-organised Parma side, continually throwing balls into the box towards lone striker Icardi.

But on the half hour Inter got their chance when Dodo delivered a free kick from the left, but it was easily cleared by the first defender.

Moments later Cassano latched onto a long ball from Jose Mauri, showing great skill to being the ball under control. His shot then deflected off Nemanja Vidic and looped inches wide.

Not long before the break Inter could have equalised as Joel Obi almost got his head on a Rodrigo Palacio cross, but it was a tad too high for the Nigerian.

It was Parma that again had the first chance of the half, when Cassano found Lodi in the box but he was caught by surprise and scuffed his shot wide.

Inter had a glorious opportunity of their own ten minutes later, when Kovacic chipped the ball over to Kuzmanovic but the midfielder missed the ball after pressure from De Ceglie.

Goalscoring has been a problem for Inter all season and they just couldn’t hit the back of the net in this match, with Dodo being played in by Kovacic in the box but hitting his shot horribly wide from around 10 yards out.

It was Inter that were dominating the play but Parma were still creating chances of their own, with Juan stopping a certain tap in for Cassano after a terrific flowing move and a cross from De Ceglie on the left wing.

Rodrigo Palacio was the next to try his luck, when he was played in by Icardi but hit his shot way over the bar.
Inter then came very close to levelling when Mirante could only watch as a 25 yard shot from Kovacic was deflected towards his goal but the shot cannoned off of the bar.

For all the Inter chances, they didn’t take any of them and this allowed Parma to double their lead in the 76th minute.

Some terrific play from Cassano saw him force Handanovic into a good save and the rebound found its way to De Ceglie, who despite scuffing his shot, managed to force the ball over the line to add to Parma’s advantage.

After the second goal, Parma took charge and it could’ve been worse for Inter, if not for two Handanovic saves, the first one from Ghezzal from a tight angle and the second two minutes later, when he rushed off his line to stop Rispoli.

Inter were unable to get back in the game and it was Parma who came away with the big victory.
