AC Milan midfielder Marco van Ginkel has suffered another injury while in training.

The 21-year-old Chelsea loanee has largely been a fringe player this season, but recently impressed in Milan’s 2-0 win against Udinese.

According to Sky Sport Italia, van Ginkel was expected to start Milan’s tough fixture against Napoli this Sunday.

However, a statement from Milan’s official website read: “AC Milan would like to communicate that during today’s training session, Marco van Ginkel sustained a sprained right ankle with damage to the ligament capsule.”

It is unclear how long the Dutchman will be out, but the injury will come as further bad news to the player who has only seen a total of 123 minutes in the Rossoneri colors this season.

This is van Ginkel’s second significant injury whilst in Italy, with the player picking up a knock within the first few days of arriving in Milan.
