My name is Luca Campedelli. I am the President of Chievo Verona football club in Serie A and I was wondering if there were a few things you could help us with this Christmas.
First we would really love to finish above our cross-city rivals Hellas, we managed to beat them in the Derby della Scala on Sunday and now we’re only one point behind them. It would help make up for a poor season so far if we could at least outdo them in the league, as long as we’re ahead of them and clear of the relegation zone.
The next thing we really need is another striker. There hasn’t been much at all wrong with our defence this season, we’ve conceded less goals than the likes of Napoli and Fiorentina but we’ve only scored 12 goals this season and Alberto Paloschi has scored four of those.
Only Atalanta have scored less than us, and if we really want to push on after Sunday’s win and move up the table after the winter break, we’re going to need a few more goals. I think we’re relying too much on Alberto and we could do with someone to support him. Preferably someone on the younger side would be useful since our other strikers Riccardo Meggiorini and Sergio Pellissier aren’t getting any younger – especially Sergio.
Actually thinking about that, if you could help us hang on to Alberto Paloschi in January as well that would be much appreciated. Also this one may only ever be a wish and nothing more, but our young defender Cristiano Biraghi who’s on loan from Inter has been a huge boost for us at the back, do you think there’s any chance of him joining us permanently? At the very least please make sure Inter don’t recall him before the end of the season.
Another player we would like is a creative playmaker in midfield. We have been hoping to shake our traits of being boring and negative team for years now. We brought in Ezequiel Schelotto from Inter on loan and Rubén Botta to give us a bit more flair but it hasn’t quite worked. I don’t think Rolando Maran wants to play such a defensive formation but it’s all we feel comfortable with right now.
Perhaps if we had a more flamboyant lad in the middle to make things happen and get the crowd on their feet then we could be encouraged to change our style. I know it’s a lot to ask but if you happen to have the next Miralem Pjanic or Keisuke Honda lying around, do send him our way.
Also one other small request, we would all appreciate a penalty at some point, one that goes our way I mean. We haven’t had one all season and it’s been a while since our last one. We’ve had a few given against us and been lucky enough that our opponents missed a couple, like that Higuain one in September, all we’re asking is that one goes our way occasionally even if we’re not the biggest team.
