Udinese assistant coach and ex-Inter star Dejan Stankovic was delighted with his side’s come-from-behind 2-1 victory over the Nerazzurri on Sunday evening.

The 36-year-old Serbian was returning to the ground where he spent so many glorious years as a player, and was happy with the reception he received from the San Siro faithful.

It was great to return to the San Siro with the greeting of the Curva,” Stankovic told Inter Channel after the game.

“I expected this reception, as ten years we shared in the victories and defeats, it was not a short time. I congratulate all the fans for this reception.

“The match? We were adversaries, but you could not erase the affection between us.

“The first half we went through a lot of suffering, then Inter stopped attacking and we scored twice. We are happy, it was a breath of fresh air.

“Did I celebrate the goals? I stayed seated out of respect.

“[The role of assistant coach] I like it, I’m at the beginning of my career, but I try to transmit my experiences on the field [to the players].
