gasperiniGenoa coach Gian Piero Gasperini was left feeling frustrated after his team’s 1-0 loss to Roma.

The Grifone have been in overall solid form and were hoping to build up some positive momentum after defeating AC Milan 1-0 in their fixture last weekend. However, Radja Nainggolan’s goal was enough to give the Giallorossi all three points as Genoa had to play most of the match a man down following Mattia Perin’s dismissal.

“I feel that eleven versus eleven would have been a totally different game,” he mused to Radio Rai following the defeat.

“[Perin’s] expulsion totally changed the atmosphere of the match and the referee was way too sensitive, which is why I was sent off during half-time.

“But we are not going to complain too much. He was clearly very nervous and made mistakes in some crucial situations, which we paid heavily for.

“Roma are a great team, no doubt, but we certainly would have done better against them had we had everyone on the pitch.”

Genoa will now hope to re-group against Torino on the road in their last Serie A game of 2014.
