Parma defender Massimo Gobbi has taken the blame for his team’s 2-1 home loss to Lazio on Sunday and admits that the Ducali will be motivated to do better now that the club will be under new ownership.

The 34-year-old, who made a costly error in the second half which led to the Biancocelesti scoring their second goal of the match, admits that his eagerness to play the ball caused the mistake and revealed that he’s hoping to help the team redeem their poor start to the season as they currently sit in last place in the Serie A standings.

Gobbi spoke to Premium Calcio after the disappointing result about Parma’s need to turn things around in order to attain salvation and commented on the benefits of the club’s change of ownership.

“I take the responsibility for the loss because of my mistake,” said the former Fiorentina man. “Perhaps sometimes the desire to play the ball causes these things to happen.

“We are in last place, we must give even more effort on the field and find the strength to continue to do so.

“I don’t know what will happen with the coach now that the club is changing ownership, but for us players it is an extra motivation.

“It is one more reason why we must try to earn salvation for the sake of the club.”
