Inter midfielder Fredy Guarin has revealed that the Biscione are focused on becoming a top team in Italy and Europe again as they prepare to face Udinese on Sunday.

The Nerazzurri will be hosting the Udine side at the San Siro and the 28-year-old admits that the visitors will be a difficult team to deal with, though he’s looking forward to being reunited with former Inter boss Andrea Stramaccioni and club legend Dejan Stankovic, who both now coach for the Zebrette.

Guarin spoke to Inter fans through the club’s official Twitter page on Friday about the upcoming clash with Udinese and his goals for the future, while also commenting on his role in Roberto Mancini’s squad.

“After so many good teams have been assembled at Inter, we want to get back to playing at higher levels until we reach the top again,” said the Colombian international.

“The match with Udinese will be hard. I will be seeing Stramaccioni and Stankovic again, along with Luis Muriel, so it will be nice.

“Will there be applause for Stramaccioni and Stankovic? Certainly, they have been important for those of us who are here today and I’m sure it will be exciting for the fans.

“What is my ideal role? I like playing on the inside. I have always played there even though I’ve taken on other roles at Inter as well, but my main position is on the inside, either right or left.

“My goal is to play for Inter in the Champions League and to win a Scudetto.

“With Mancini we are trying to become a very offensive team, he has changed the formation as we now play four in the back.”
