Juventus drew 0-0 with Atletico Madrid at the Juventus Stadium on Tuesday night in the UEFA Champions League.
Although Atletico had a few chances, it was a game that Massimiliano Allegri’s side dominated but no goal had arrived.
The first half was dominated by the Bianconeri while Los Colchoneros were content with sitting back and hitting on the counterattack.
Atletico midfielder Koke pounced on the loose ball and Gianluigi Buffon slid quickly to block the shot; Paul Pogba crossed for Fernando Llorente but Miguel Angel Moya saved the Juventus striker’s chance.
Tevez had a shot blocked by the Atletico Madrid defence and they also cleared away an Andrea Pirlo free-kick, before Jose Gimenez had a chance for Atleti but his looping header was tipped over the bar by Buffon.
Pirlo had a free-kick which just went over the bar and Pogba then crossed the ball for Llorente but Moya made a save from the forward’s header.
Despite the Juve dominance, Atletico had some chances near the end of the half; Arda Turan’s shot went wide after he just cut-in from the left, Buffon parried away Mario Suarez’s long-range shot and the Juventus goalkeeper then saved from Raul Garcia’s half-volley.
At the start of the second half, Atletico were denied by the woodwork after a corner and Pogba had a shot blocked by Gimenez.
Arturo Vidal’s angled drive was pushed away for a corner by Moya after a Juve counterattack and Moya also made a save from Pogba’s long-range effort.
Diego Simeone’s side were very tight in defence and Juventus struggled to test Moya from close range; Vidal tried his luck from distance after 75 minutes but the Atleti keeper was able to push the shot away.
Llorente then had a clash with Raul Garcia and he came off temporarily with a bleeding nose.
Only one minute of stoppage time was played but the draw ensured Juve’s progression to the Round of 16 of the 2014-15 UEFA Champions League.
