Udinese midfielder Panagiotis Kone has revealed that he hopes to become more of an important player for the Bianconeri in 2015 now that he’s recovering his form.

The 27-year-old, who has provided three assists in his 13 Serie A appearances for the Zebrette this season thus far, had struggled to fit in at the Udine side since his arrival from Bologna over the summer but was able to assist both of his team’s goals in their impressive 2-2 draw with Sampdoria on December 21, which has given him a jolt of confidence ahead of the new year.

Kone spoke to Udinese Channel after the draw with Sampdoria on Sunday about his team’s performance against the Blucerchiati and his increase in form, while also commenting on what Udinese must do to improve in 2015.

“After two difficult months, with four injuries to deal with, I’m finally well,” said the Greek international. “It’s because of this that the coach has chosen me to play.

“I think I played a good game, I helped the team throughout the whole match. I want to congratulate Giampiero Pinzi and Molla Wague who, though not always given a chance to play, had superb performances today.

“I want to have a great 2015, if I can continue feeling good physically then you will see me become more of an important player for this team.

“What have we been missing to gain continuity? We must be more clever, we have to be more calm when we play and then, in my opinion, the results will come.

“We lack some of the experience that would have allowed us to secure more important results. However, we work really well. The technical staff does a lot for us, so it’s up to us to think about doing good.”
