Troubled Parma have been handed a one point penalty after failing to pay their taxes and wages last month.

The Italian club recently confirmed that they had fallen behind in paying player wages for the last two months along with their taxes, forcing the Italian football authorities to penalize the side.

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) have confirmed that the side have been hit with a one point penalty.

Along with a point deduction the club, club president Tommaso Ghirardi and CEO Pieto Leonardo have been fined €5000 each while banning the two executives from any league activities for two months, reports Tuttomercatoweb.com

Parma currently sit in last place in Serie A, dropping them to five points in the standings and eight points out of the relegation spots.

Recent reports suggest Ghirardi is in talks to sell the troubled Italian club to a Russian-Cypriot conglomerate, with the deal reportedly worth €7 million.
