Sampdoria sporting director Carlo Osti is looking for more academy players to break into the Blucerchiati first team after youth product Luca Rizzo extended his contract with the club until 2019.

Rizzo spent three seasons on loan at lower league clubs Pergocrema, Foligno, Pisa and Modena before working his way into the first team squad, and Osti is optimistic that others can follow the midfielder’s example.

“Sampdoria have always said that it intends to achieve its goals through the development of our academy players,” the 56-year-old told Samp TV.

“We have so many good young players, some are out on loan, some have them here.

“It is clear that we hope that these kids can demonstrate their value at other clubs and may all return to Sampdoria.”

Osti also reiterated that Sampdoria do not intend to sell any first team players, including Manolo Gabbiadini and Stefano Okaka in January.

“We absolutely do not want to weaken the team and as for the market we’ll talk about in January,” he concluded.
