AC Milan have turned down a bid from FC Dallas for Michael Essien, but are willing to let the defensive midfielder leave during the January transfer window.

The former Chelsea star is out of contract at the end of the season and has been informed that the Rossoneri will not be offering him a new deal.

Sky Sport Italia reports that FC Dallas came forward with a proposal for the 32-year-old earlier this week, but the offer from the Major League Soccer side was considered too low.

Essien’s agent, Fabrizio Ferrari, admits offers have been arriving from across Europe and around the world.

The Ghanaian also has offers to return to the English Premier League from Burnley, Leicester City and West Bromwich Albion.

Essien joined Milan in January of last year, but has struggled for playing time this season with 451 minutes of action over five starts and four substitute appearances in Serie A.
