Croatian legend Zvonimir Boban has warned Sampdoria not to expect the same player who left Italy in 2011 if they are successful in their attempts to sign Samuel Eto’o.

The former AC Milan midfielder now works as a pundit on Italian television where he is known for his outspoken and critical nature.

“I seem to be dreaming” the 46-year-old told Radio DeeJay. “I loved this attacker.”

“Samuel, who was often sacrificed and marked, was the most important player of Inter’s treble. However to think a 34 year old can play as if he were still 22 seems a bit absurd.”

It is believed that Eto’o, who played for Inter between 2009-2011, is close to agreeing contractual terms with the Blucerchiati and could complete a transfer within the next few days.
