Cagliari have signed the 28-year-old Serbian goalkeeper Zeljko Brkic from Udinese.

The goalkeeper is the second signing made by the Rossoblu in the January 2015 transfer window as they look to strengthen their defence for new coach Gianfranco Zola whose reign began with a 5-0 defeat away at Palermo.

Cagliari confirmed on the club’s official website that Brkic has arrived from Udinese on loan for six months.

The goalkeeper is expected to return to his parent club at the deal’s conclusion as the contract does not include an option to make the move permanent.

Brkic did not feature for the Zebrette in the 2014-15 Serie A season but he previously played 43 times in the league for the Friuli club and he has earned 10 international caps with Serbia.
