Lazio defender Lorik Cana has stated that his side will not give up on third place following their defeat to Napoli.

The 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Partenopei on Sunday put the Neapolitans in third, two points ahead of Lazio, but the Albanian international has stated that the loss doesn’t change his side’s goal.

“We played like we always do,” he told Sky. “We attacked the opponent.

“It feels tough to concede a goal without being on the back foot.

“We lost possession on some occasions, but nevertheless I think we deserved to win; however, we look to the future.”

Cana then went on to state that the injuries to the likes of Felipe Anderson and captain Stefano Mauri did not affect the side on Sunday afternoon.

“Our squad is large, I don’t know who could’ve done better than those who played today,” he said.

Finally, Cana went on to state that the side’s goal remains third place despite the loss.

“Our goal hasn’t changed,” he concluded. “We’re not giving up on third place, we’re playing well.

“The most important thing though is to continue to grow.

“Our next game is against AC Milan who are a direct competitor as well, they beat us in the opening day of the season, but we will try to win.”

The Biancocelesti are set to host the Rossoneri on January 24.
