Chievo drew 0-0 at home to Torino on Tuesday afternoon.

The game was a bore draw with the Flying Donkeys perhaps the more likely to win but neither side really tested the opposition goalkeeper and neither deserved to win.

Chievo enjoyed the game’s first chance after a slow start when a scrappily defended free-kick from deep resulted in a weak shot at goal.

Torino then responded immediately and ran down the right-wing before squaring it to Alexander Farnerud whose volley across goal was comfortably saved by Albano Bizzarri.

The game settled into something of a rhythm with the home side dominating possession but failing to break down a Toro defence who dealt with their attacks and looked to launch counterattacks but the visitors lacked the quality to punish the Flying Donkeys.

Torino had a good chance in the 21st minute after Fabio Quagliarella picked up the ball in the area after a chipped pass from a free-kick but his strike to the far post was well blocked.

Chievo’s Alberto Paloschi did well to win a corner in the 28th minute which led to a series of set-piece chances with some intelligent play in the area.

Valter Birsa’s first delivery lead to another corner, his second effort was played in low to Perparim Hetemaj who forced a save from Daniele Padelli with his shot from a tight angle before the third was headed over by Ervin Zukanovic.

Paloschi almost opened the scoring in the 33rd minute after a clearance fell to Ezequiel Scheletto whose floated ball to the far post was met by the striker who hit it first time but Padelli was there to keep the game goalless.

The Gialloblu controlled the remainder of the first half but created little and were almost made to play in stoppage time by a neat Torino counterattack but Quagliarella opted to cross rather than shoot when he had a sight of goal.

The second-half started much as the second finished with Chievo the more likely to make something happen but neither side created any chances of note.

Paloschi had a sight of goal in the 65th minute after outmuscling Matteo Darmian but his shot from just inside the area was charged down by the  away defenders.

Farnerud fired off a a shot from long-range in the 69th minute that bounced in front of Bizzarri but the Chievo ‘keeper collected it well.

Chievo had a chance in the 71st minute but Zukanovic headed over after getting away from his marker at a corner.

Substitute Dejan Lazarevic hit the target with a free-kick from a dangerous range in the 81st minute but Padelli got down to tip it out for a corner and protect Torino’s clean sheet and the remaining 10 minutes saw little else of note as the game finished goalless.
