Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero has praised Cristiano Ronaldo and has dubbed the Real Madrid star the future of football.

The 40-year-old has revealed that he’s very impressed by the Portuguese international, who is going up against Manuel Neuer and Lionel Messi for this year’s Ballon d’Or on January 12, and feels that his style is unlike any other in the world of football today, though he admits that Messi is an extraordinary player as well.

Del Piero spoke to FIFA.com about the talent possessed by both Ronaldo and Messi and commented on what the two stars contribute to modern-day football.

“Cristiano Ronaldo’s personal statistics are truly staggering,” said the Delhi Dynamos striker.

“A lot has been said about the concept of ‘the modern player’, well this guy is not just modern but he’s also the future.

“Messi is the real deal when it comes to No10s. He represents a type of football that transcends borders, he’s even liked in Brazil.”
