Cagliari midfielder Daniele Dessena has revealed that Gianfranco Zola’s arrival as coach of the Rossoblu has brought tranquillity to the club as they look to avoid relegation this season.

The Isolani, who currently sit in 18th place on the Serie A table with 15 points after their 2-1 victory over Cesena on January 11, have a shot to escape the relegation zone with a positive result against Udinese on Sunday and the 27-year-old insists that the squad will be doing their best to please their coach by securing as many points as possible.

Dessena spoke to the press after Cagliari’s recent win over Cesena about the importance of earning more points at this time and the mission to do well under Zola, while also commenting on the market.

“The victory is very important, we suffered but we wanted the three points and we got them by dedicating our minds and our hearts to the game,” said the former Sampdoria man.

“The market? All are welcome to come here. Cagliari is a place that deserves so much.

“Zola has given peace and tranquillity to this environment and all of the players want to do something important for him.”
