Serie A side Inter are actively trying to finalise the future of their Uruguayan defender Alvaro Pereira, before the January transfer window slams shut.

The 29-year-old, currently at Brazilian side Sao Paulo, is no longer in coach Roberto Mancini’s plans and the Nerazzurri are desperate to avoid him returning to Italy in the Summer as an Inter player, and are not keen on any further loan deals.

“Will he leave Brazil in January? I don’t know, Sao Paulo would like to keep him but that decision won’t be made till June”, agent Alfredo Regueira told FCInterNews. “Clubs have asked me for details, including some from England.  QPR and Sunderland were interested, but only on loan”.

“He is a professional”, added Regueira. “If he returns to Inter in the Summer then he will fight for a starting shirt. He has a contract till 2016 and will respect it”.

Pereira joined Inter in 2012 but has never really settled, appearing only 33 times for the club.
