Italian giants Juventus have made their first offer for Galatasaray’s Dutch playmaker Wesley Sneijder.

The Dutchman is a top target of many major European clubs this January as Manchester United, Manchester City and Southampton are said to be in the race for the player.

Tuttosport reports that coach Massimiliano Allegri’s side have made the first move and have apparently tabled an offer of €2 million, which is unlikely to be accepted by the Turkish club, however the Binaconeri are confident of striking a deal in the coming weeks.

Reportedly cash-strapped Galatasaray are thought to be asking for €8 million, but Juventus hope that Sneijder can use the issue of unpaid wages to force a cheap exit from Istanbul, as Turin is thought to be the 30-year old player’s preferred destination.

Earlier coach Allegri had confirmed his interest in the Dutchman by describing him as “a feasible luxury” to reporters.

The player, though, will be tied to Galatasaray in the Champions League this season and therefore won’t be available for Juventus in Europe if he does sign during some point of the January transfer window.

Sneijder joined Galatasaray from Inter in 2013 and has made over 54 appearances for the Turkish club.
