Juventus have officially opened preliminary negotiations to sign Porto’s prolific Colombian forward Jackson Martinez.

The Bianconeri hierarchy have been heavily involved in discussions with their Portuguese counterparts over the transfer of centre back Rolando for some time, but Calciomercato.it now reports that the Turin giants have also officially asked for the 28-year-old hit man.

However, negotiations are unlikely to be straight forward and it is highly improbable that any deal would be completed during the current January transfer window.

Porto are understood to value their striker at €35 million and while Juventus are keen to include players as part of any transfer negotiations, Porto are likely to demand a cash only deal.

If a transfer does take place it will certainly happen in the summer at the very earliest as Juventus begin to look for a long term replacement for Carlos Tevez, who has said he will not renew his contract with the club.
