Lazio defeated Sampdoria 3-0 at the Stadio Olimpico on Monday night in Serie A.

Goals from Marco Parolo, Felipe Anderson and Filip Djordjevic earned the Biancocelesti a commanding victory.

Both sides came into the first Serie A match of 2015 in joint third alongside Napoli with 27 points, but Sampdoria had not won a league game away at Lazio since a 2-1 success in January 2005.

Emiliano Viviano was the busier of the two goalkeepers on his first Serie A start for Samp since a 2-2 draw at Cagliari in October as the Aquile began the match in the ascendancy.

Viviano was forced to concede a corner from a Lucas Biglia free kick after Daniele Gastaldello received a yellow card for a cynical foul on in-form winger Felipe Anderson following an impressive solo run.

Right-back Fabrizio Cacciatore recovered after a defensive error to block a Djordjevic header in front of an open goal after Lazio’s top scorer hesitated having nodded the ball past Viviano.

Stefan de Vrij shot wide from six yards after a corner, but both Stefano Okaka and Eder were incorrectly flagged offside when clear on goal with Lazio playing a high defensive line.

Lazio took the lead after a well-worked move when Felipe Anderson showed great acceleration down the left side before pulling the ball back for Parolo to side-foot under the bar from eight yards after a darting forward run.

This was the midfielder’s first goal since the 4-0 win at Palermo in September.

Felipe Anderson then doubled the Biancocelesti’s lead just three minutes later with a powerful right-footed shot from outside the box that found the far bottom corner.

The 21-year-old has scored four goals this season after scoring his debut goal just two rounds ago at Parma.

Both sides were substitutions at the beginning of the second-half with the injured Lorik Cana withdrawn for Luis Cavanda and Pawel Wszolek was introduced for his first appearance of the season replacing Luca Rizzo.

Lazio continued to commit players forward as Senad Lulic shot wide before being withdrawn for Ogenyi Onazi just five minutes after break and Djordjevic rounded Viviano for a second time, but Alessio Romagnoli kept the Blucerchiati in the match clearing his shot off the line.

Okaka was denied a penalty after being pulled to the ground by Stefan Radu as the Romanian moved to centre-back with the withdrawal of Cana, but the Aquile scored a third goal following another spectacular run by Felipe Anderson.

The Brazilian cut open the Samp defence before cutting the ball back for Djordjevic to score his seventh goal of the season from close range, while Felipe Anderson has now been involved in eight of Lazio’s last nine league goals with four goals and four assists.

Pedro Obiang was immediately substituted for Gonzalo Bergessio, and the forward thought he had made an instant impact lifting the ball over Federico Marchetti only for it to be ruled out for offside.

Eder was withdrawn for Alfred Duncan and Antonio Candreva was introduced for captain Stefano Mauri following his return from injury.

Cacciatore also had a header ruled out for offside before former Roma forward Okaka failed to find the target with a shot from the edge of the box.

The Blucerchiati are Lazio’s favourite opponents in the top-flight having now beaten Sampdoria 53 times so far in Serie A.

Sampdoria had gone eight Serie A matches without loss, but suffered their first defeat since October 29.
