Lazio are on the verge of signing AZ Alkmaar youngster Wesley Hoedt after the two sides reportedly agreed a €1.2 million fee for the defender.

The 20-year-old Alkmaar native is viewed as a highly promising centre back and has been part of the first team set-up with AZ since 2013. The Biancocelesti had previously offered around €900,000 for Hoedt, whereas the Dutch side were looking for a figure closer to €2 million.

After lodging an increased bid of €1.2 million with several bonuses attached to Lazio’s league performance, AZ have decided to accept the offer, and according to Tuttomercatoweb, Hoedt will sign until 2018 and earn around €500,000 per season.

The Netherlands U-20 international has made 12 Dutch First Division appearances for AZ, scoring one goal since making his debut for the side back in a Europa League tie against the Greek side PAOK in December 2013.
