Hellas Verona coach Andrea Mandorlini believes the 0-0 draw with Empoli in Serie A was a fair outcome.

The point keeps the Gialloblu in 13th, six points clear of the relegation zone, but could have been more as striker Luca Toni was among those culpable for missed opportunities.

“The result was fair, we caused many problems for Empoli but it was a difficult pitch,” Mandorlini told Rai Sport.

With both sides reduced to 10 men, the 54-year-old regrets Emil Hallfredsson’s red card when the Mastini held the man advantage.

“The red card came when we had to take advantage of the numerical superiority, but afterwards we still created chances to take the lead.”

Next up for Hellas Verona are Parma, who closed the gap from the bottom of the table with a win over Fiorentina, and Mandorlini is considering bolstering his squad before then.

“We do not think we can make use of the transfer market before Sunday, but we want cover for injured players and that will be our priority.”
