Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan has reiterated that the side can win titles this season.

The Giallorossi are currently in second in Serie A, five points behind leaders Juventus, and the Belgian international praised coach Rudi Garcia for the role he plays at the club.

“Would I stay at Roma even without winning titles? We can win titles, we’re genuine contenders,” he told Marca. “We have great motivation this season.

“Garcia is a motivator, he keeps us all happy, focused, and makes everyone feel important to the team; the reserves know that they will get their chance.”

“We know that to win Serie A we have to limit the points dropped, but we have displayed our character and personality.”

Nainggolan then spoke about the Giallorossi’s elimination from the UEFA Champions League on the final matchday against Manchester City, in a group that also contained Bayern Munich and CSKA Moscow.

“It was a very difficult group,” he said. “I entered the final matchday satisfied with what we’d done; [Manchester] City and Bayern [Munich] have superior budgets to ours, so it is not an issue to get eliminated.

“We showed that we are a strong team and can play well against big clubs.”

Radja Nainggolan has made 23 appearances in all competitions for Roma this season, scoring three goals and making five assists in the process.
