Ivan Strincic NapoliNew Napoli signing Ivan Strinic says it is a dream come true to play in Serie A.

The Croatian defender signed after his contract with Dnipro expired this week, and he believes that playing for the Azzurri is going to be at another level to his previous experiences.

“It is certainly a big step forward in my career, as a child I watched Italian football and it is a dream come true to play in Serie A,” he told members of the press at his unveiling.

The 27-year-old arrives off the back of a rib injury, but is eager to play for Partenopei coach Rafa Benitez.

“Benitez affected my decision to come here, he is a coach who has won many trophies.

“I will play when the coach decides, but after a month and a half out, he will decide when the time is right.

With a career spent at some top Eastern European clubs, and a sturdy 33 caps to his name with Croatia, Strinic is confident he can make the step up.

“I prefer to play in defence, although I can be part of an attack. I know how to play for Napoli, adapting is not a problem.

“It was amazing to see the fans gathered outside the training ground, my teammates have also welcomed me very well.”
