Sampdoria sporting director Carlo Osti has flown to Paris to meet with Claudio Vigorelli, the agent of Everton forward Samuel Eto’o, in an attempt to reach an agreement with the 33-year-old over personal terms.
The Blucerchiati are desperate to sign a forward as talks for Udinese forward Luis Muriel continue to drag on as the club look to land a replacement for Manolo Gabbiadini, who was sold to Napoli at the beginning of the 2015 winter transfer window.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, a deal is close to being reached and the Liguria club are hoping to have a deal wrapped up so Eto’o can dress for Sampdoria’s Coppa Italia match against former club Inter on Wednesday.
It is believed Eto’o has chosen the Genoa based club and a return to Italy over the opportunity to play for Brazilian side Santos.
