New Napoli signing Ivan Strinic has expressed his delight at the extraordinary attendance for open training at a packed Stadio San Paolo.
The Croatian international left-back took part in only his second session since arriving at the club from Dnipro on January 1.
“I feel a great emotion,” were Strinic’s words when taking to Twitter afterwards.
“Thanks to all the fans, over 40,000 for training.”
Napoli officially announced the transfer on Thursday, but the deal had already been sealed when Strinic underwent a medical before the turn of the year.
However, the 27-year-old had to wait for the expiry of his contract with the Ukrainian club before joining up with his new team-mates.
He will face competition from Faouzi Ghoulam for a place in the side, but could be in line to make his Serie A debut on Tuesday January 6 away to strugglers Cesena.
