Atalanta are considering making an offer to Cesare Prandelli to become their coach for next season.

The former Italy boss would consider coaching Atalanta and try and rebuild his reputation after Italy’s poor showing at the 2014 World Cup, and then being sacked by Turkish side Galatasaray in November after less than six months in the job.

TuttoMercatoWeb report that club president Antonio Percassi wants to replace the under-fire Stefano Colantuono. Although it would be seen as a step back by some, it is believed the 57-year-old Prandelli would jump at the chance to return to Bergamo, where he finished his career as a player and where he started his coaching career with the Atalanta youth team in 1987.

Atalanta are struggling to replicate last season’s form and currently lie in 16th place as they welcome Inter to the Atleti Azzurri D’Italia stadium this weekend. The home side need the points to pull themselves away from the relegation battle.
