The deal to take Atalanta defender Yohan Benalouane to Inter has fallen through, the player’s agent has confirmed.

The Frenchman has played 15 times for La Dea in the 2014/15 Serie A season after signing from Parma in June, and had attracted an offer from the struggling Biscione.

According to the player’s agent in an interview with FcInterNews, an offer failed to materialise as Atalanta demanded a mandatory purchase clause after an initial loan period.

This clashed with Inter’s plan to loan the player and decide later if they would sign the 27-year-old on a permanent basis.

With this deal now looking unlikely, Inter have yet to sign a defender in the January transfer window and with the clock ticking it seems that Roberto Mancini’s options are becoming further limited.
