Bologna have finalised the signing of defender Daniele Gastaldello from Sampdoria.
The experienced 31-year-old was the captain of the Blucerchiati, but now moves down a league to Serie B for a new challenge.
With Bologna’s promotion push gathering momentum, a player of Gastaldello’s calibre could prove vital to the Rossoblu if they are to return to Italy’s premier division.
Bologna are now five games unbeaten, sitting in the second automatic promotion place with 41 points, eight away from leaders Carpi.
Gastaldello has made over 200 league appearances for Sampdoria in his eight years at the club, and made an appearance for his national side Italy in March 2011.
