Borriello’s signing brought back supporters’ memories of his fantastic season in 2007/08 for the Grifone.Marco Borriello has admitted that coming back to Genoa has made him the happiest man in the world after leaving Roma during the transfer window.
The 32-year-old forward is now in his third spell with the Rossoblu after enduring a frustrating time with the Giallorossi and admitted that for a while he was aware the rumours of him returning to Genoa, but no-one had contacted him.
“I read of the negotiations, but no-one ever called me,” he said on Saturday as reported by PianetaGenoa1893.net.
“I was a member of Roma and if was distracted it would have been disrespectful to my teammates and the fans.
“Then the president called me and told me that it was 100% done, it was enough to make me the happiest man in the world.
“I had difficulty at Roma for various reasons and I didn’t play regularly.
“Now I’m here at Genoa I am physically pretty well, I am always training to the maximum and I need to ensure that I am match fit.
“I hope to find it soon to get back on track with my teammates who are playing really well.”
