immobile dortmundMisfiring Borussia Dortmund striker Ciro Immobile insists he wants to stay at the German giants, and has ruled out a move back to Italy.

The 25-year-old Italian international has had an underwhelming debut season at the Bundesliga outfit, leading to speculation he may be moved on at the end of the season.

Immobile though, insists that he wants another season to prove himself at the club, and cited Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski as someone who went through the same period when talking to Sport Week.

“I’ll stay at Dortmund, I won’t return to Italy,” former Torino star Immobile affirmed.

“[The lack of goals] Even Lewandowski didn’t do too well in his first season here. I hope I can redeem myself in the future, because I think I am up to this club’s level.

“The [German newspaper] Bild always speaks ill of me, but perhaps it is the newspaper of Munich and tries to bring us down.

“The coach [Jurgen] Klopp’s always helping me and giving me advice.”

Immobile has netted eight goals in 20 appearances for Dortmund across all competitions this season.
