After Cesena’s inspired 2-2 draw against Juventus on Sunday evening, Franco Brienza has declared that his side are still alive in their quest to avoid relegation.
Despite obtaining a point against the league leaders, Cesena still find themselves 19th in Serie A, however the 35-year-old veteran believes that their promising performance can inspire his side to salvation.
“We knew that we would have to perform to the best of our ability and also hope that we faced a Juventus side that were a bit under par,” said Brienza to Sky Sport Italia.
“But this result is good for football. Sometimes the prediction for the game is obvious but that is what is difficult with Italian football; even the little teams can obtain great results.
“We have grown so much since the first few games of the season and I know that we still need a few more points to catch those above us, but I do believe that this result demonstrates that we can still have our say.”
