Genoa defender Nicolas Burdisso has praised the decision to postpone the Derby della Lanterna, stating the pitch at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris was unplayable.
Heavy rainfall on Saturday has forced the Sampdoria-Genoa match to be postponed, and Burdisso believes that the right decision was taken given the circumstances.
“I think the referee’s decision was right,” he told Mediaset Premium.
“We weren’t sure, it would have been nice to play but later we saw that it was not possible to do so.
“There is a lot of regret but it is the best things for fans of calcio.
“We did not want to play because we had a difficult warmup and it seemed impossible to play.
“The pitch was unplayable, but it was normal to wait 15 minutes.”
