Inter appear set to announce the signing of Porto central defender Rolando before Monday evening’s transfer deadline.

Rolando spent last term on a season-long loan deal with the Nerazzurri before returning to Portugal, but is set for a return having been earmarked as the answer to Inter’s defensive woes.

Sky Italia report that an agreement for the transfer is only hours away, with Inter head coach Roberto Mancini desperate to shore up a back-line that has leaked 29 goals so far this season.

Portuguese international Rolando knows Serie A intimately having spent a five-month spell at Napoli after joining on loan in January 2013.

The Cape Verde-born star made 29 league appearances during the 2013-14 campaign at Inter, while also contributing four goals.

It’s believed that Inter have fought off strong interest in the 29-year-old from Juventus in order to assume pole position in the race for his signature.
