AC Milan goalkeeper Diego Lopez admits he is eager to regain his place in Filippo Inzaghi’s starting eleven after missing a game through suspension.

The Spanish goalkeeper had become the Rossoneri’s first choice goalkeeper this season, but recent poor form and a suspension has led many to wonder whether or not he is deserving of a guaranteed first team spot.

Speaking to Milan Channel, Lopez stated the importance of staying switched on against the so called smaller teams.

“I am eager to come back,” he began.

“I am expecting a tough game, we need to be alert against the struggling teams.

“The win against Cesena gave us three vital points.”

The 33-year-old also admitted that Christian Abbiati was impressive in his absence.

“In the stands I suffered,” the former Real Madrid man said.

“Abbiati made a great save in the match, it was a huge moment for the team.”

Diego Lopez has played 16 times in Serie A this season, keeping three clean sheets in the process.
