Fiorentina ace joins Chelsea

English Premier League side Chelsea has officially confirmed the signing of 26-year-old midfielder Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina on a four-and-a-half-year contract.

The Colombian international has arrived after a five-and-a-half-year spell in Italy in which he played for Udinese, Lecce and Fiorentina.

The official Chelsea website have confirmed the deal and have also posted the attacking midfielders first interview as a Chelsea player.

“I am very happy for the opportunity I have been given,” said Cuadrado.

“This is a great club and honestly it is a dream to join the Chelsea family and to know that the coach [Jose Mourinho] belives in me.

“I am very happy.”

The versatile midfielder appeared 85 times for the Viola, scoring 20 times.

The BBC have confirmed that the initial fee for the deal is €30 million and could potentially rise to €34 million.
