Out of favour Fiorentina forward Mounir El Hamdaoui has turned down the chance to sign for Cesena on transfer deadline day.

The Seahorses are on the lookout for a new striker to help bolster their attack after the departure of Hugo Almeida, who made just seven starts at the club and left after just three months at the club to sign with Kuban Krasnodar.

That has led Cesena to turn their attentions to Florence in their pursuit of a striker according to SportMediaset as they had hoped to bring in 30-year-old El Hamdaoui on loan for the rest of the season.

However, the Dutch-born Moroccan international has rejected the move outright, insisting he has no plans to leave the club.

He did spend a spell on loan at Malaga last season and has one goal in just three substitute appearances this year.
