Sebastian Giovinco- TorontoNewly acquired Toronto FC forward Sebastian Giovinco said on Thursday that his goal is to raise the level of football of his new side.

Giovinco made his debut for the Reds in Wednesday’s 1-0 loss in a friendly against Oklahoma City Energy FC, which is part of the team’s preparation for the new Major League Soccer season that will kick off in March.

“I played for 55 minutes and it went pretty well,” Giovinco told Tuttomercatoweb.

“We conceded with their only shot on goal, we were a little unlucky.”

Even though he has worked with the Canadian side for just a week, the 28-year-old forward is left with a good impression of his new workplace and living environment.

“I have trained for just one week with them, but I see commitment and quality,” said the former Juventus and Parma player.

“The facilities are nice.

“For now I can’t say the club is structured in a different way, but there is more contour.

“I am very happy, the city is beautiful, the club is important and wants to grow.”

When it comes to acclimatization in the dressing room, the forward admits to getting help from former Roma midfielder Michael Bradley.

“Bradley told me good things about the club,” he said. “Our goal is to improve on last season.”

Giovinco, who has 21 caps and one goal for Italy, said that he is not worried about leaving Antonio Conte’s radar by choosing to continue his career outside of Europe.

“[Conte] told me that I made the right choice and not to worry because if I do well I will still be considered for the national team.”
