Former Parma hierarchy to receive FIGC sanctions

Former Parma president Tommaso Ghirardi and sporting director Pietro Leonardi were referred by the FIGC following the Parma crisis.

Parma’s financial crisis saw Ghirardi and Leonardi step down from their roles after, following the team’s sale. The FIGC will move to slap sanctions on the duo following their mismanagement of the situation, which led to players not being paid several months worth of wages.

The FIGC released a statement on Friday, enunciating the reasons for the duo’s sanctions:

“For not having documented and their failure for the payment of fees owed to its members, employees and consultants working in the sector of sports for the months of July, August and September 2014,” read the statement.

Parma are now under new ownership and announced the arrival of new president Giampietro Manenti on wednesday.
