Inter’s pursuit of two defenders in the January transfer window were reportedly troubled by squad registration issues.

The Nerazzurri had proposed deals for Dmytro Chygrynskiy and Rhodolfo, who at the time of negotiations played for Shakhtar Donetsk and Gremio respectively, collapse as the issues became apparent.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Roberto Mancini’s side had just one more squad place to give to a player outside of the European Union, and the club management opted to register starlet Italo Santos instead.

Santos was snapped up by Inter on deadline day, signing alongside fellow youngster Jose Correia who was formerly of Sporting Lisbon.

Inter currently sit in 11th in the Serie A standings, sitting three points closer to the relegation zone than the third Champions League qualification spot.
